Rooms and Suites
Thirty-one rooms across three houses, from single rooms sized properly for one traveller to suites with a separate sitting room and a terrace at water level. All face the bay, all have blackout blinds, fast connections, a desk in the light, kettle and coffee, and a chair worth sitting in. Rates include breakfast at any hour from four, use of the drying room and equipment store, and the evening briefing. Single travellers pay no supplement, and stays of five nights or more include one guided morning at no charge.
Guided Dawn Tours
Small groups leave every morning the conditions justify it, walking or driving to whichever position the log and the forecast suggest. Groups are capped at five so that nobody stands in another person's frame, and the guide advises on exposure, filters, composition in flat light and how long the mist will hold. Tours last two to three hours and return for breakfast. When conditions are exceptional the guide will offer a second departure the same evening, and guests already on site are told first.
Workshops and One-to-One Teaching
Three- and five-day workshops combine morning fieldwork with afternoon sessions on exposure, colour management, long exposures, filtration and a complete edit from raw file to print. Groups stay under six. One-to-one days are available for photographers who want to work on a specific problem, from focus stacking to building a coherent series. Every participant leaves with edited files, two printed proofs and written feedback on sequencing, and we lend tripods, filters and lenses throughout.
Boat Mornings and Transfers
Two of the hotels keep a low, quiet boat that can take four photographers into the middle of the bay before sunrise, hold position for long exposures and land on the far shore where no road goes. Skippers understand what a photographer needs and will move the boat by half a metre without being asked twice. Road transfers to more distant locations can be booked the night before, with a driver who will wait as long as the light lasts rather than to a fixed schedule.
Editing Space, Printing and Storage
Each hotel has a working room with large tables, calibrated monitors, card readers, backup drives and a fast connection, available to guests at any hour. A pigment printer produces proofs and exhibition prints up to A2, and finished work can be shipped home. Equipment can be stored securely between trips for guests who return every season, and we hold a small library of technical books, maps and back issues that nobody has ever needed to ask permission to use.
Exclusive Hire and Photographic Groups
Any of the three houses can be taken in full by a workshop leader, a club or a commercial shoot, with meals timed around the light, a briefing room, boats and transfers arranged and our guides available or entirely out of the way as preferred. We host several returning workshops each year and are happy to work alongside a visiting tutor rather than replacing them. Location scouting reports with sample frames can be supplied in advance for production crews.
